Water allocation for public supply, agriculture, industrial and recreational purposes in Florida is becoming more complex as the competition for water sources becomes greater. Traditional sources of supply including groundwater and surface water are in many parts of the state over-allocated and the water management districts have designated critical water supply areas in many of these regions. In many instances water supplies are only allocated after all conceivable water conservation and alternative supplies have been utilized in the development of water supply plans for applicants. To compound the complexity of new and even the renewal of water allocation the water management districts are aggressively establishing minimum flows and levels throughout the state. This determination of sustainable levels and flows from waterbodies, watercourses and aquifers has also limited available water supplies.
Water Resource Associates (WRA) has developed and permitted water allocation strategies that meet both the client’s and water management district’s needs and requirements. The permitting process requires creative and innovative approaches to both the development of water supplies and demand reduction. WRA has both the policy/administrative experience and the technical expertise to meet the growing water demands of the state’s water users. Water Use Permitting and Water Supply Planning Experience
